Flywheel Spintop.

-

We made a gyroscopic (kinda), double sided flywheel spintop. This super heavy kids toy is not at all for kids.

Machined from tungsten + titanium with fancy ceramic ball bearings and ceramic ball tips. To operate, hold the titanium sleeve and roll the tungsten body to get it spinning. It's easy and fun to get going.

Words don't do it justice, just watch the video below.

Mobile Robotic Fabrication System for Filament Structures by Maria Yablonina

Maria!

A huge thank you to Paolo Salvagione for chatting this week on #CWTIO about your design, art + fabrication practice. Paolo shared some of the electronics projects lying around his desk including a flexible PCB with a 1 farad flat rectangular super capacitor (insert head explosion here) and his neato solution to having any resistor on hand. And the way he stores his electronics, we're all officially "going flat" thanks to Paolo.

Next week we're chatting with badass researcher, designer, robot fabricator Maria Yablonina. We haven't spoken to her since she's become a doctor of robot fabrication. And we wish it was over a shared meal in our kitchen, followed by her sleeping on the floor of our studio, but we'll take what we can get.

Be warned, if you show up in our feed during #CWTIO, you might be called on to chat with us next week :).

We appreciate your support always, but especially during these times.
