Feelings.

-

Sometimes late at night we write our feelings on stuff.

This is an intense week. Check in on a friend. Eye smile at a neighbor (wearing your mask). Cozy up in some warm clothes and rain gear (if applicable) and walk through quiet streets. Sending love and strength. And of course please vote.

We just received our copy of The Dictionary of Dark Matters. A people's dictionary organized, written and assembled by some super talented friends American Artist + Zainab Aliyu (ta) and their students as part of their course Dark Matters: On Blackness, Surveillance and the Whiteness of the screen at SFPC.

A People’s Dictionary is a subversive inquiry into the constraints of language and the other inherently oppressive structures which hinder our potential to imagine the Beyond. It asks questions like: “Which experiences inform theory? What is intellectual authority? Who gets to dictate what it means to be human?”

- Excerpt from Zainab Aliyu's contribution on the term "A People's Dictionary" from The Dictionary of Dark Matters

I've had this book on my bedside for the past week, reading through it as my eyes close for the night. It's beautiful and imperfect and represents a version of humanity, making + storytelling that I hope is our future. More info below...

One more thing...A covid related resource.

Some friends put together a set of resources to help people safely do things like vote, get back to work, protect their fellow workers. You'll find hacks to improve indoor air quality and surveys to determine risk based on your working situation. Check it out and share with friends + family or anyone you think this could help.
