Wonder.Â
We're dropping a bunch of Wonder Bundles today, this drop will include some of the hand dremeling + anodizing experiments we did this week. One style we're dubbing chicken scratch. We hope you like them. We sure do :)
Grab a Wonder Bundle
For those who missed it last time, Wonder Bundle is a mystery bag containing a custom, one of a kind surprise treasure, along with some other goodies.
Robots, swimming, chickens.Â
Like many of you, we played around with ChatGPT this week. No it did not write this newsletter. The first day it came out CW had it write a poem about two brothers going swimming to try and get our kids excited about their first swim class. It worked. The next day over lunch with Colin our studio assistant, we gave it the same prompt of a Spanish essay he had just turned in for school. It did a crazy good job.Â
If you haven't you should watch this talk CW gave on the subject years ago. If I remember correctly, I think the first line is "the robots are taking over".
It's interesting to get a sense of how people feel when they first come in contact with a new technology like this. I'm sort of always awed by CW's reaction, which is genuinely filled with a ton of optimism and excitement. On the other hand, I definitely spend more time ruminating in what I can only describe as a sense of grief or loss. I come out of it, but I'm not going to lie and say it isn't there. Right now, I think some of my grief is centered around that period of time when kids start developing their voice as writers. The words come from them, and they can be so surprising and also just plain weird. Weirdness that doesn't come from awkward computers but awkward humans. But maybe there isn't a difference. I don't know.
Speaking of longing. We got to babysit some 1 month old chicks for a few days this week and we miss them. As city folk, aside from unwelcome species, we don't get much animal time. Watching them roam around the house was wildly entertaining. Yes, they pooped everywhere.
With love and hugs,
