Friendly reminder - shipping at this time of year is finicky! If you've been straggling, no worries. We can still get you your goods even customized stuff, which we do in house with our snobby laser. The deadline to arrive by Dec. 25th in domestic USA is Sat. Dec 17 for USPS first class mail and Weds, Dec 21 for USPS priority. That said ...

I shot this video yesterday while walking back to the annex to check and see if we had enough parts to do a batch of Solid State Watches. We've got 9, so they're up now, we'll make them next week (no guarantee for dec 25 delivery but you'll be rocking it in the wee days of '23 for sure). During my walk to the annex I noticed weird crackling sounds coming from the dried leaves piled around the perimeter of our yard. My first instinct was RATS! And then I was like - birds? The crackling sounded as if it was coming from everywhere. I stopped and it took a surprisingly long time to notice it was rain. Drops drumming the curled up dried leaves. It was this odd disjointed moment where the sound was so much more intense than the rain, which was barely noticeable.

I was just texting our friend Josh (super genius who has designed and optimized all the electronics in Time Since Launch to make its insides as awesome as they are in a way that is completely imperceptible but so important to the project) about our next run of TSL and the number of capacitors to use as a backup power during a battery change. He was like, 60 seconds? 120 seconds? Josh implied that the beings changing those batteries will be super-intelligent-humanoids with purple nail polish emoji. Speaking of TSL, we're almost out of our current batch. I think we have 15 or so left. So if you want one for 2022. Now is a very good time.Â

The thing I'm most excited about right now.Â

Che-Wei just finished reading the book Breath: The new science of a lost art by James Nestor. The gist of it is you should breath through your nose, and you probably don't. (You can read the book for the lengthy list of health benefits). Recently Che-Wei started running while only breathing through his nose. My first reaction was no f**king way!!! But curious, I tried. The first time I made it a block and was like screw this, whatever benefits there are to this don't outweigh me not being able to run, or worse falling flat on the sidewalk.

But this whole nose breathing thing really stuck in my head. I started reading the book, and I've been practicing, mostly just trying to be more intentional, especially when I sleep. This morning my goal was to make it 4 blocks with a closed mouth. And surprisingly, through the mess of boogers (it's really cold out) I felt like I could keep going. In my head I was like, I could maybe get all the way to the park. I made it to the park. Then I passed a parent from our kids school and gave an awkward muted mouth shut hi. Because at that point no air was getting in to jinx it. And then I kept going and did the whole run without opening my mouth once... breathing just through my nose.Â

What's crazy is how excited I was, still am. I sent CW a bajillion text messages to share my triumph. But what was most surprising is how quickly our bodies can adjust with just a little bit of effort and admittedly some discomfort. I immediately called my Dad who has a collapsed nasal cavity and urged him to try it with his one good nostril. I still have to finish the book, but I think there is something really interesting in this. That said, I still can't get my head around people taping their mouths shut to sleep. I bet it helps but no thank you.

With love and hugs,

Che-Wei + Taylor
