I aint 'fraid of no ghost.
Although not the original intent, don't blame us if your 55 66 88 causes supernatural events.
But seriously, look how good that haunted cutie looks in front of the camera.
We're on KS for 1 more week. You get to choose either clear or black aluminum anodized with any pledge tier. Or just grab two at a discount for when one wanders off AHEM Che-Wei (actually i'm never putting things back).
Trash.
This week we started listening to Neil Gershenfeld's interview on Lex Fridman's podcast. Neil is probably my favorite person to hear talk. It doesn't matter how much hyping up I do right now, it won't be enough. We took his class How to Make Almost Anything at MIT 9 years ago, so I was really excited when CW put this on this week. There are many wonderful nuggets in there. One of my favorites is at 56:31 when he qualifies trash as "something that doesn't have enough information to tell you how to reuse it"... "There's no trash in a forest. There's also no trash in a lego room, because all the pieces have enough information embedded in them to show both how you use them, and how you take them apart." Hearing about how those ideas extend to fabrication at all different scales, from CNC fab, to biology, to chip and electronics and so on is so eloquent and beautiful. Enjoy your listen!
If you feel like reading, our friend Grey sent us these words by Stewart Brand. It's a story about the world's first around the world solo yacht race, but also a story about maintenance.
Yesterday we went to see Andrew Herzog's paintings of and with rocks at his show that just opened called Eremocene. If in BK, check it out along with other events they are doing this week at the gallery. Andrew and his studio Hawraf RIP designed our brand identity years ago, so it was great to catch up.
School is ending wahhhh! One of my favorite days of the year is when we get to watch our kids sing songs on the hot hot roof of their school. Che-Wei and Pau made Pau's class some dope t-shirts with nicknames and favorite numbers, which they got to show off yesterday after days of laboring away on those [see image above].
Mini-tours.
CW started making tiktok mini-tours of corners, nooks, cabinets in our studio. Our workspace is not glammed up, sleek or minimal. And who doesn't want to see inside someone's drawers. Maybe next week he'll take you inside our fridge.
