We're giving away 5 x $100 gift certificates to our shop.

We recently started running Ads for CW&T. It's kinda a big deal for us, since we don't usually do that. But we're at a point with our business where we're looking to hire 1 or 2 people to help us function more efficiently and preserve our sanity. Our accountant told us we don't make enough money to hire anyone, so we're trying to grow our business, just a bit, so we can get some help.

anodizing bts video

With ads, comes content. And we've gotta make content that shares our story, but is also fun for us to make. Here's a behind the scenes anodizing video we made this week. We are going to make one for Time Since Launch soon, which is where we need your help. Help!!!

We need images/videos that give context to how Time Since Launch lives in the world. Everything from TSL in your living room, in a drawer, on your desk, in hands, to smiley faces pin pulling at special occasions. Our hope is to capture the joy and realness of the thing. Right now most of our documentation makes it feel cold + heartless, which we're into, but you get the point.

If you've got an image or video of your TSL in the world, can you email it to us please please please? We are going to include these in a quick montage. Don't send it to us if you are not OK with us including your image in our video montage that will play in a video Ad. You will not be the star of the video, more like a 1/20th second blip. (In our hearts you are a star).

If you send us content we will put you in a list and then randomly choose 5 people to send $100 gift cards to our shop. The last time we asked for TSL content, we got about 10 replies, so your odds are pretty good. :)

If you've sent us stuff in the past we'll reach out to ask permission to include you in our video and we'll obviously include you in our prize draw.

We'll award prizes once we have enough content for our video. We're hoping in 2 weeks max. If you send us lots of stuff, we'll put your name in the draw more than once, or whatever seems fair. (We'll make it fair).

Reply to this note and we'll get it. ok thanks!

1949.

I got into a rabbit hole this week researching methods of monotype printmaking and came across the work of Gyorgy Kepes, a Hungarian artist who fled Nazi Germany with Laszlo Maholy-Nagy in 1937. Kepes ended up becoming the first artist on staff at MIT. I got fixated on the above photograph of what I believe (via Twitter) is the first Radioshack. The storefront is designed by architect Carl Koch, and the electronic mural is by Kepes. It's a bummer no one's in there tinkering, but I love a world where electronic components interface seamlessly with the street. It reminds me of the old Westbeth SFPC location, floor to ceiling windows, memorialized by their current website design.

COSMOS chair by Peter Minsoub Sim.

COSMOS chair.

Peter Minsoub Sim, the maker of this chair, is sitting in our kitchen right now, sadly not in that chair. He just showed us the chair (above) he made and we asked him to take a screenshot so we could share it with you. Peter's about to run one of his projects on a mini injection molding machine that's been sitting in our basement. His 400 piece chair blends a combination of traditional craft and digital fabrication methods; from hand wood carving, to cnc-machining, to 3D printing to glass casting. It's on view right now until December at Room 57 in NYC. Also check out Peter's IG.

With love and hugs,
