1P Flashlight.
Cute and tiny. Silky smooth in the hand. Blink it on and off with a thumb. Slip it in a pocket.
Fools we are, always aiming to bring as much of manufacturing in house as possible. 1P Flashlight is 3D printed, tumbled smooth, and then assembled in our Brooklyn studio with a high quality coin cell [240mAh] + bright through hole LED [8090mcd].
1P Flashlight is a prerelease; a back-of-the-shop passion project, where we work out the intricacies of an idea outside the constraints of mass-production. In this case, we wanted to make a little activity for Tree's birthday party. This turned into a challenge to make a single 3D printed body without support material that accommodates through-hole LEDs with varying leg sizes.
For orders over $100 placed now through the weekend, we'll put 1P Flashlight in as a gift.
A momentary finger press on the LED leg turns the light ON. Before assembly, we bend the LED legs out so we can use their springiness within the assembly as a switch.
You can keep the light ON by snooging the LED leg to the side and under a small wedge.
* Snooge is not a real word, but we're grateful for every opportunity to use it. It's a mix between snuggle and wedge.
And it's open source!

Were looking forward to seeing all the improvements you all make! Please share pics if you do end up modifying or making your own.
BTS tools.
When we set out to assemble 1P Lights this week, we quickly realized that we needed a few tools to help make the process a little faster + more friendly on the fingers. One of CW's favorite things to do is make custom tools to help with highly specific tasks.
Above are not plastic knuckles. We accidentally ordered a few hundred LEDs in strips instead of in bags. It really hurt our hands to pull them out. CW built this cool rig and it only took a couple minutes to painlessly separate a few hundred LEDs from their packaging.
It also turned out being tricky to get these fancy batteries out of the double clamshell childproof packaging. Here's a little die cutting-jigg to help. You have to perfectly center the clamshell in the 3D printed circle cutout. And a the custom die attachment does the trick cutting. Not sure if this is faster than using a blade. But a fun little tool nonetheless.
And finally Colin assembling the LEDs into the housing.
Dads.
This photo reminds me of when I was a kid, my Dad demonstrated our solar system using a flashlight and some fruit.
We're doing a quick Father's Day Titanium Matte Pen Type-B discount for the week, if you think a Dad in your life might be into one of our pens.
Happy Dad Ti-Matte PTB 10% OFF
