Pen Type-C prototypes tagged and snuggled up for storage in the Cooper Hewitt Collection Archive.
Archive.
This Wednesday we visited the Cooper Hewitt Collection Archives + conservation lab. We were there to shoot a video of launching one of the 3 Time Since Launches that are part of their permanent collection. We wandered through big storage racks filled with puzzled together design objects. We were told there wasn't really much hierarchical categorization, things just go where they fit. It was interesting to wander around without a curated story.
I was wandering down an isle and found our pens pictured above. I didn't see them get put there, so it was nice to see them surface amongst the rest of the stuff. And below is a shot from the lab right after launch.
Time Since Launch arranged as specimens for collection.
Happy accident.
If you run a laser... READ THIS. We've been through 2 dedicated PC laptops in the past several years set up just to run our laser. Our current system crashes after just a few engravings. So we decided to switch it to a mac mini, thinking we would install Windows and run our laser software on at least some more reliable hardware. The mac mini arrived yesterday, and we forgot you can't install windows on the new mac mini chips. CW found LightBurn, which (insert joyful harmonizing voices here) lets you control a laser from a mac. This is insanely helpful for many workflow reasons and we are glad.
Last call.
For those who have supported the campaign for M.R. Tape Dispenser, thank you! There are just a few hours left if you want in.

And this is the last you'll hear about them until they go live in our shop :)
Numbered Edition Batchdrop PTC Ruler White.
This week Colin marked a white cerakote pen with a metric and imperial ruler scale and it looks really cool. This first batch is a numbered edition.
With love and hugs,
