House of craft.

This automatic ribbon cutting machine is ceremoniously delightful. We do lots of cardboard crafting, and are always exploring new tools to make crafting more fun/accessible for our kids. We've experimented with all sorts of gum tape dispensers and wetters, circle cutters, saws, hot glue, weird connectors, electric cardboard cutters that are supposedly better for kids (ours still opt for Herring Blade).

About a month ago, we discovered the most game changing tool for cardboard crafting...an automatic tape dispenser. First you dial in how much tape you want...to the mm (yes...mm). Then hit start and it will spit out that much tape. Each time you grab the tape, it spits out another at that same length. This can and does go on for hours and hours and hours.

If I was an architect or art student I couldn't think of a better investment. Above are some in progress halloween masks. We're using a craft colored painters tape, and it helps produce this nice continuous surface. Kinda like papier-maché, but without the mess.

We've bought 3 of these in the past month. 1 was a gift. 1 CW took with him on a trip, because he can't leave home without it.

Speaking of tape dispensers.

Yours truly made one too. M.R. Tape Dispenser is now available for regular ordering. We just shipped the last of our Kickstarter campaign. This is a totally different species of tape dispenser compared to the automatic ribbon cutting machine featured above. Both are joy inducing. We also have m-t paper tape available, but in limited quantities right now, we'll be getting more next week.
