The shed.
It's really crappy when you are working really hard on something. And then an outside person, who hasn't done any work at all, comes in and poo-poos your plan. Well, that was me with our bike shed.
For the past few weeks, Che-Wei has been working on a super cool and ambitious bike shed where the roof and front opens, kinda like a DeLorean car door. The whole time I watched him, thinking cool, if that's what makes this fun for him, go for it. I certainly wasn't raising my hand to build a shed out in the cold.
Up until Sunday, I hadn't been helping at all. But after seeing what was going on, and watching nervously as he troubleshooted the gas-spring attachment for the second time, I had to be the asshole who was like ... "I'm so sorry to say this and I really think your idea is cool and ambitious and I love that you are going for it, but if there is any chance that this could hurt...kill someone...um... please please please can we just make some hinged doors???".
This could have gone south fast. But instead we spent the day together, out in the cold making the front panel into two swinging hinged doors.
Our kids stayed inside, neglected but busying themselves. Pau made that little photo setup/compositions of Pencil Type-C w/ a bunch of model figures and he's asked if I could put it on our website:).
