Viewable regions.

I don't think we've successfully communicated the coolness of this yet so we're just going to keep trying.

If the viewable portion of Pocket Fiche is 22mm diameter, that area comes to around 380mm². If you divide that by a field of view of 0.5mm with an area of ~0.2mm², then you have around 1900 viewable regions (each with 500-800 pixels across). This is obviously more than we'll design for because there will be space and things will bleed into each other. 🤯

Now that our heads are spinning thinking about the task of designing the Fiche, we are super grateful to all people who have already reached out with ideas. (sorry we haven't replied yet directly...!)

Daniel reached out with really interesting ideas about things to include on the fiche that we hadn't considered. We've only met once, but he is our old friend's brother and is maybe a library scientist, maybe mathematician, definitely likes books + whose website is very fun to browse through. His idea was to emphasize the preservation aspect of making copies, so we could possibly include excerpts of texts where there is only one extant version of the manuscript, like Beowulf or Sappho's poetry (which I didn't know about and woah).

Feel free to reach out if you think of other stuff, or send the project to a friend you think might be interested.

How To Get To Zero.

We spent Friday night at the jam packed Pioneer works exhibition opening of our friends Tega Brain + Sam Lavigne. Their insanely clever and sometimes very funny work examines the limits and future possibilities of political agency during our time of climate crisis.

Extra shout outs.

Running a small business is hard. So we wanted to give some shout outs to other friends who are currently running KS campaigns who are a part of small discord group of folks we share woes and wins with.

Craighton who runs Manual and who is (I believe) the first to ever launch a product on Kickstarter has a current campaign, The Mezanine Collection which ends in about a week. It's a very simple

Dave runs Slimfold, they make super minimal wallets in the US. When we met last year, it was really cool to hear about his in-house operation. His current campaign is the Global Minimalist Travel Wallet.

With love and hugs,
